Facilities Operations Leader

About the Role:

Amazon's Reliability, Maintenance, and Engineering (RME) team is seeking a Facilities Operations Leader to oversee our maintenance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of maintenance associates while ensuring a secure working environment for all personnel.
  • Support the Operations team by adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a customer-focused approach.
  • Innovate and devise solutions for complex challenges, manage external contractors, and be available for emergency situations.
  • Oversee multiple projects and daily tasks, ensuring deadlines are met while developing and tracking plans to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Collaborate with local Safety leadership to implement and audit safety programs, ensuring compliance with all safety procedures.
  • Establish and sustain preventative maintenance programs while fostering strong relationships with Operations leadership.
  • Facilitate technical and safety training, contributing to the professional growth of maintenance technicians.
  • Mentor maintenance technicians, providing motivation and direction to help them excel and exceed expectations.
  • Develop business plans for the Maintenance department and guide their successful execution.
  • Work alongside the Finance team to establish, monitor, and manage budgets.
  • Engage in efficiency improvement initiatives, including Kaizen activities for the site and the broader network.
  • Formulate capital expenditure plans, assist in cross-functional project planning, and conduct cost analyses.
  • Promote excellent housekeeping practices within the department.
  • Participate in regular network Maintenance meetings and off-site conferences.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 2 years of experience within Amazon.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including weekends and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil).
  • Willingness to travel to various locations as required.
  • 5+ years of experience in distribution or manufacturing, with a focus on mechanical or electrical disciplines.
  • Proficiency in automated conveyor systems, electrical principles, blueprint reading, and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with Safety, Operations, Engineering, and management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Six Sigma Certification and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles.
