POSITION OVERVIEW:


The Pharmacy Operations Supervisor is tasked with overseeing the essential functions of a certified pharmacy technician while managing the operational, technical, financial, clerical, and pharmaceutical support requirements of the retail pharmacy.

In collaboration with the Pharmacist in Charge and the System Director of Pharmacy, this role engages with various departments to ensure effective marketing, facility management, accounts payable, revenue cycle management, human resources, and strategic planning for service lines and 340B programs.

This position is responsible for the daily oversight of pharmacy technicians, inventory control, invoice preparation for accounts payable and external clients, internal billing processes, and the maintenance of pharmacy software and point-of-sale systems.

Additionally, the Pharmacy Operations Supervisor manages all retail pharmacy activities, including staff training and health, scheduling, patient throughput, prescription delivery, billing coordination, and reconciliation of reimbursements, along with other assigned responsibilities.

This role frequently interacts with associates, healthcare providers, business partners, patients, and other departments, ensuring service excellence. The individual contributes to the organization's operational effectiveness by demonstrating reliability in job performance and embodying the F.I.R.S.T values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is conducted in a retail pharmacy environment, involving regular contact with patients. The role may present stressful situations and requires constant interaction, often subject to interruptions. Responsibilities may involve dealing with individuals who are unwell. The position may require prolonged periods of standing or sitting, as well as moving or arranging files and supplies.

Manual dexterity is essential for operating a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier, and other office equipment as necessary.

Prolonged viewing and typing on a computer screen are required, and the work environment can be highly demanding. The ability to independently lift or move up to 25 lbs is necessary. A flexible work schedule is expected.

SKILLS AND EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:


Exceptional communication skills are necessary to engage with a diverse range of customer groups, including healthcare professionals, pharmacy staff, students, interns, associates, and vendors.

Strong problem-solving abilities and effective teamwork skills are essential. Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail are required. A solid understanding of pharmacy operations, financial management, and revenue enhancement strategies is crucial for cost containment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
A high school diploma with five years of retail pharmacy experience, including two years in a supervisory capacity

OR

An Associate's Degree with three years of pharmacy or ambulatory healthcare management experience, including one year in a supervisory role

OR

A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration (preferred) with two years of pharmacy or ambulatory healthcare experience and at least one year of supervisory experience in pharmacy (preferred)

Experience:
A minimum of three years of pharmacy technician experience, including one year in a supervisory role within a pharmacy setting.

Completion of 340B University is preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS:
KY registration as a pharmacy technician is mandatory.

Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) is required.

Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician credential is preferred.
