PRINCETON POLICE DEPARTMENT

GENERAL DUTIES: The Princeton Police Department is seeking Entry Level candidates who are intelligent, possess strong writing and verbal communication skills, enjoy collaborating with the community to address issues, and are self-motivated, confident, and positive individuals.

This opportunity is open to all qualified candidates, including those who are not NJ PTC Certified or SLEO II waiver eligible.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a resident of New Jersey at the time of appointment.
  • Must possess a valid New Jersey driver's license at the time of appointment.
  • Must have an Associate's Degree, 60 college credits, or 4 years of active military service.
  • Vision must not exceed 20/100 in each eye, corrected to 20/20.
  • Normal hearing in both ears.
  • Must be in good physical condition.
  • Must demonstrate good moral character.
  • Able to swim.

HIRING PROCESS: Upon receipt of your application, if you meet the minimum requirements, you will be contacted to complete a physical fitness assessment. This assessment will include:

  • 1.5 mile run in 15:55 or less
  • 24 pushups in one minute
  • 28 sit-ups in one minute
  • Minimum 15" vertical jump
  • 300 meter run in 70.1 seconds or less

Successful candidates will then be scheduled for an initial screening interview.
