The Princeton Police Department is actively seeking applications for the position of Police Officer. We are looking for individuals who are intelligent, possess strong writing and verbal communication skills, and have a passion for community engagement. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Established through the consolidation of the former Borough and Township Police Departments, the Princeton Police Department is dedicated to serving the community. Our team consists of highly qualified officers, many of whom hold advanced degrees.
The department is structured into three main divisions: Operations, Investigative, and Support Services. Within these divisions, we have specialized units including the Patrol Bureau, Detective Bureau, Traffic Bureau, K9 Bureau, Records Bureau, and Safe Neighborhood Bureau. We pride ourselves on being a service-oriented police department, actively participating in community events.
COMMUNITY AND ENVIRONMENT
Princeton is a vibrant community known for its rich history and cultural diversity. It is home to a population of approximately 30,000 residents and offers a variety of cultural activities, including events at local universities and theaters.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Must be a New Jersey resident at the time of appointment.
- Possess a valid New Jersey driver's license.
- Hold an Associate's Degree, 60 college credits, or have 4 years of active military service.
- Vision must be no worse than 20/100 in each eye, corrected to 20/20.
- Normal hearing in both ears.
- Must be in good physical condition and possess good moral character.
- Able to swim.
HIRING PROCESS
