Compensation Range

$132,810 - $204,636 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer to contribute to projects focused on U.S. national security. As part of our engineering team, you will play a vital role in providing engineering solutions for space missions and scientific investigations aligned with LLNL's Global Security Directorate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize advanced tools such as ADS, CST Microwave Studio, HFSS, and Comsol for the design and simulation of RF front-end components.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of satellite Telemetry, Tracking, and Command (TT&C) subsystems.
  • Evaluate RF communication systems and assess alternatives to ensure compliance with orbital requirements.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop technical proposals for spacecraft missions, including specifications and cost estimates.
  • Engage in RF engineering design processes from initial concept through to testing and validation.
  • Conduct complex analyses to support programmatic objectives and provide insights on novel engineering challenges.

Additional Responsibilities for Advanced Level

  • Lead the development of innovative RF engineering solutions to address intricate technical challenges.
  • Oversee the transition of RF engineering designs to operational phases, ensuring spacecraft performance and safety.

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in RF/electrical engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience with TT&C, communications, and RF sensing systems.
  • Ability to work effectively within a diverse project team environment.
  • Strong analytical skills to devise solutions for complex engineering problems.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration and technical presentations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in RF/electrical engineering or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of space mission engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience in aerospace engineering, particularly in the design and testing of flight hardware.
