Compensation: $19.50 per hour
Classification: Non-Exempt

The Receptionist is responsible for greeting patients and visitors in a courteous manner as they arrive. Duties include reviewing and updating demographic and insurance information, collecting co-pays and balances, and entering payments into patient accounts. The Receptionist will also balance the cash drawer at the end of each shift. This role involves working in the call center, answering phone calls promptly and professionally, routing calls appropriately, and taking accurate messages when necessary. Responsibilities also include scheduling, canceling, or rescheduling appointments as needed, recognizing and routing documentation to the correct provider within the Electronic Medical Record system, and performing various clerical tasks such as preparing mailings, filing, faxing, scanning, and photocopying.
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or GED is required; one to two years of college education is preferred. One to three years of experience as a medical receptionist is preferred, though an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing and data entry, is essential. Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with excellent organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and details simultaneously, are required. The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining patient confidentiality is crucial.
Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and procedures is necessary. The ability to communicate effectively to establish and maintain productive working relationships with doctors, patients, coworkers, management, and external customers is vital. Familiarity with medical insurance policies and requirements for obtaining verifications is preferred. Experience managing a multi-line phone system is also advantageous.
