Job Title: Medical Receptionist Benefits Coordinator

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist Benefits Coordinator to join our team at Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center, Inc. in Worcester, MA.

Job Summary:

The Medical Receptionist Benefits Coordinator will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our Primary Care clinic. This includes greeting patients, checking them in and out, registering new patients, verifying insurance information, and performing data entry and clerical duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and check in patients, verifying their identity and demographics, and updating information as necessary.
  • Verify insurance information for all patients and identify those with invalid or terminated insurance, referring them to a Health Benefit Advisor.
  • Collect required fees and co-pays from patients and maintain accurate financial recordings.
  • Complete Sliding Fee Scale applications for all patients and provide Center information, including programs and services, patient rights, and HIPAA brochures.
  • Educate patients on health plan options and assist with changing insurance primary care providers and enrolling in health plans.
  • Follow proper procedures for handling patients and new patients who walk in seeking medical services.
  • Enter necessary information into EPM and scan forms, managing paper flow for patients to receive appropriate health center services.
  • Answer the telephone and manage calls in a timely manner, utilizing good judgment and adhering to site protocols.
  • Maintain recall lists and communicate with patients as appropriate, adhering to site protocols.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Portuguese (substitutions allowed).
  • Strong computer skills, including typing, Microsoft Word, and Internet Explorer, and accurate data entry typing.
  • Customer Service and communication skills.
