Job Summary/Description:

WILX Television, a Gray Media, Inc. company, is seeking an IT engineer to address a temporary requirement.

This position will last for a six-month period and may extend if the need continues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, maintain, and repair all IT systems at WILX.
  • Conduct routine maintenance as specified by vendors associated with Gray Media.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Engineer and the Gray Media Corporate IT Group on new technologies and implement necessary workflow adjustments.
  • Assist non-technical staff with training and support for their daily operations.

Support and Troubleshoot:
Diagnose and repair various computing devices, including workstations, peripherals, and software issues.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.
  • Familiarity with Windows/Windows Server, Exchange, Active Directory, Virtual Machines, Linux, and Database Systems.
  • Experience in an IT environment is preferred.
  • Proficient in PC and graphics computer operations.
  • Technical and networking skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues efficiently.
  • Ability to oversee all aspects of information security.
  • Maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong prioritization skills in a dynamic work environment.
  • Collaborate closely with Department Managers and direct Supervisors on urgent operational tasks.
  • Skilled in providing hardware and software support to end-users.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Valid Driver's license and a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Cisco experience and certification are advantageous.
  • Security certifications such as CISSP/CEH are a plus.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix, Firewall, SAN/NAS, and VMWare VSphere is beneficial.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Capable of carrying moderately heavy equipment, including cameras and monitors.
  • May require working in varying weather conditions.
  • Potential exposure to high noise levels or unusual lighting.
  • Ability to work on lighting fixtures while on a ladder.
  • Must reside within a reasonable distance from the TV station.
This role includes an on-call rotation that may involve weekend or holiday emergency work as necessary.
