Position Overview:

As a vital member of our healthcare team, the Advanced Practice Nurse Resident provides comprehensive patient care in a specialized hospital environment, focusing on individuals with complex medical conditions that necessitate prompt and sophisticated interventions to ensure stabilization and support of their health status.

This role is situated in areas that maintain a lower caregiver-to-patient ratio, requiring highly skilled professionals equipped with advanced competencies.


Key Responsibilities:

Essential Duties Include:

  • Delivering direct patient care in a hospital setting under the guidance of experienced preceptors and nursing leaders.
  • Exhibiting advanced clinical knowledge and skills to manage patients with intricate assessments and therapeutic needs, ensuring high levels of nursing vigilance.
  • Utilizing clinical data and assessments to proactively respond to dynamic patient conditions with confidence.
  • Prioritizing critical information to take immediate, evidence-based actions focused on patient care.
  • Monitoring specialized medical equipment and accurately interpreting electronic data, including vital signs and cardiac rhythms.
  • Reacting to emergency situations in accordance with established nursing protocols.
  • Conducting thorough assessments of patient conditions, recognizing urgent situations, and initiating appropriate emergency measures when necessary.
  • Developing and adjusting individualized care plans based on patient assessments and progress.
  • Fostering respectful relationships with colleagues and patients, honoring diversity in all interactions.
  • Acting as an advocate for patients and their families.
  • Demonstrating the advanced knowledge required to provide age-appropriate care for patients in the assigned unit.
  • Taking on roles such as preceptor, charge nurse, or unit educator as needed.
  • Collaborating with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams to effectively manage unit operations.
  • Serving as a role model for peers and supporting the strategic goals of the nursing department.
  • Understanding growth and development principles to assess and meet the unique needs of patients across the lifespan.
  • Coordinating care and delegating tasks to team members based on patient needs and staff qualifications.
  • Documenting patient care accurately and consistently, adhering to all regulatory standards.
  • Exhibiting proficiency in nursing skills and the use of medical equipment specific to the unit.
  • Continuously prioritizing patient care in alignment with Evidence-Based Practice Standards.
  • Identifying and resolving problems effectively.
  • Delegating responsibilities to healthcare team members in accordance with patient needs.
  • Communicating relevant patient information and unit concerns to the healthcare team.
  • Providing compassionate care to create a therapeutic environment for patients and families.
  • Maintaining awareness of legal considerations and patient rights.
  • Collaborating with educational and nursing leadership to support the onboarding of new team members.
  • Ensuring regular attendance in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Adhering to all organizational policies and procedures.

  • Attending relevant training sessions and departmental meetings.
  • Working with nursing leadership to identify areas for professional development.
  • Taking responsibility for personal professional growth and continuing education.
  • Actively participating in the Nurse Residency Program as appropriate.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Training:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Fulfillment of all mandatory training and competency requirements.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Must obtain Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Florida or a valid multistate RN license within six months of employment.
  • Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification is required.
  • Additional certifications such as ACLS, NRP, PALS, and TNCC may be necessary for specific units.

Experience:

Less than one year of experience as a licensed registered nurse is required, with no prior experience necessary.
