Accounts Payable Clerk Job Description

This hourly entry-level accounting position exists to process accounts payable transactions in a timely and accurate manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Scan invoices, packing slips, and supporting documents into an imaging system.
  • Index packing slips and supporting documents into the imaging system.
  • Enter a portion of AP invoices for payment.
  • Contact purchasing and inventory control areas for internal verification of questionable receipts and pricing.
  • Assist with returned goods reports.
  • Process sales spiffs as required.
Requirements:
  • Related experience preferred.
  • Knowledge equivalent to a high school education, plus specialized training in elementary accounting procedures.
  • Good keyboarding skills and ability to process large quantities of vouchers.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning transactions.
Work Environment:

This position requires sitting, standing, working in front of a computer monitor in an office setting approximately 95% of the day.

This position requires the ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reaching with hands and arms.

Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
