Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Senior Construction Inspector to join our team at our office in North Haven, CT. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that construction projects are completed in accordance with contract plans, specifications, and building codes.
Key Responsibilities- Contract Plan Interpretation: Properly interpret contract plans, specifications, special provisions, shop drawings, and submittals to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Construction Monitoring: Observe work in progress to ensure conformance with contract, building codes, engineering principles, and quality assurance standards.
- Materials Testing: Perform materials tests as required to verify quality assurance and ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Reporting and Communication: Prepare daily inspection reports and progress reports, and communicate with project engineers, clients, contractors, owners, and other stakeholders throughout the project.
- Quantity Calculations: Perform materials quantity calculations for materials used, received, or stored on-site.
- Construction Safety: Observe and verify on-site construction safety to ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
- Certifications: CCM/CMIT Certification, Building Official or Assistant Building Official Certification, or obtainable within 6 months of employment.
- Experience: CTDOT or other agency experience is desired. Familiarity with the CSI Specifications format and relevant trades experience is also required.
- Skills: Considerable knowledge of construction materials, methods, and procedures, as well as field inspection experience in vertical construction, civil, or related engineering disciplines.
- Communication: Excellent written, verbal, and data communication skills.
- Travel: Routine ability to drive a motor vehicle to project sites.
- Physical Demands: Ability to climb, enter excavations, walk on irregular surfaces, use a ladder, and exposure to varying heights and weather extremes.
