Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Engineer to join our team at the United States Fleet Forces Command. As a Senior Nuclear Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of nuclear reactor plants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Resolve radiological control problems and make technical decisions to ensure plant safety and cost effectiveness.
  • Prepare and review technical work documents to support reactor plant procedures.
  • Mentor and teach others in nuclear engineering cradle-to-grave processes.
  • Direct nuclear engineering processes for naval vessel propulsion plant systems.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent in the Federal service or private/public sector. Your experience should demonstrate the following:

  • Providing technical instruction in nuclear engineer work involved in construction, overhaul, modifications, repair, refueling, and deconning of nuclear reactor plants, components, reactor plant material, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and approving technical work documents and administrative documents in support of reactor plant procedures.
  • Mentoring and teaching others in nuclear engineering cradle-to-grave processes.
  • Directing nuclear engineering processes for naval vessel propulsion plant systems.
Education

You must meet the basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management, which include:

  • Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
  • Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
  • Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico.
