We are seeking a highly skilled Radiation Protection Specialist to join our team at Pro2Serve. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for providing technical support for radiation safety functions at the Department of Energy (DOE) Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant Site and supporting the DOE's Portsmouth Paducah Project Office (PPPO).
Key Responsibilities- Develop and recommend processes and changes to operations to reflect the DOE's radiation safety programs.
- Support the surveillance and technical support of a compliant and robust radiation protection safety program.
- Review and assess DOE's and site contractor's radiation safety, operations, and material free release requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all DOE, Federal, and State requirements.
- Provide support to DOE PPPO Project Managers and Facility Representatives by performing daily, direct field observation and surveillance activities.
- Participate in weekly meetings and provide reports, as required.
- Provide subject matter expertise, advice, and counsel to DOE project managers on radiation safety measures.
- Perform site field surveillances and assessments as directed.
- Assess the effectiveness of the PPPO's radiation safety practices and promote continuous program improvement.
- Support emergency response planning and events across the PPPO.
- Support Accident and Incident Investigations.
- Review and prepare reports for DOE on radiation protection or health physics related issues.
- Provide day-to-day oversight support of onsite contractors' implementation of radiation safety programs.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science or related field from an accredited university or Master's degree of Science in Engineering or Science or related field.
- At least four (4) years of experience in related operations (i.e. power reactor, uranium processing, nuclear fuel, radioactive waste, or radioactive cleanup site).
- At least three (3) years of Radiation Protection program operational management or oversight experience.
- Experience in reviewing and assessing DOE's and site contractor's radiation safety, operations, and material free release requirements.
- Ability to provide support to DOE PPPO Project Managers and Facility Representatives.
- Ability to provide subject matter expertise, advice, and counsel to DOE project managers on radiation safety measures.
- Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Exhibit a high degree of professionalism in the production of deliverables and in interactions with fellow employees and client personnel.
- NQA 1 Lead Auditor.
- Professional safety, health physics, or radiation protection certification.
- DOE Site Experience.
- Deactivation and Remediation site experience.
