Position Purpose

This newly established role will act as a vital connection between precise facilities data and effective campus planning. The Campus Facilities Inspector will play a key role in the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of the university's infrastructure, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all users. This position primarily entails conducting thorough inspections of university buildings, including verifying dimensions, counting restroom fixtures, and identifying flooring types.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed inspections of all university facilities to confirm dimensions.
  • Accurately document the number of restroom fixtures in each building.
  • Identify and catalog the types of flooring materials utilized across the campus.
  • Collaborate with the facilities management team to ensure accurate records of campus facilities are maintained.
  • Assist in identifying maintenance or repair needs observed during inspections.
  • Utilize spreadsheets and Microsoft Office to organize and analyze data collected during inspections.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to relevant departments for further action.
  • Maintain a professional and approachable demeanor while interacting with university staff, faculty, and students.
Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, thoroughness, and problem-solving abilities are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with the facilities management team are crucial. Analytical skills and adaptability to various building environments, along with professionalism and excellent customer service, are also vital for this role.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with a preference for prior experience in building inspections or related fields. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, strong attention to detail, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with the facilities management team are essential. Analytical skills and adaptability for various building environments, coupled with professionalism and excellent customer service, are also critical for the role.

Salary

$37,440 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

Office environment with occasional exposure to adverse weather conditions and hazards during building inspections.

Work Schedule

40 hours/week
Monday through Friday 5:00 p.m - 2:00 a.m.

Employment Eligibility: Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University-Wide or Open Recruiting, including both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers.

Retirement Plan Eligibility: The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
