Position Summary:

The Daytime Cleaning Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness and safety of our educational facilities. This position involves a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks, contributing to a welcoming environment for both students and staff. The technician will work closely with the Campus Facilities Manager and may occasionally be required to work evenings or weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare facilities for daily use, including unlocking doors and performing safety checks.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for students and staff.
  • Familiarize oneself with building systems, including alarms and electrical systems.
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and restroom maintenance.
  • Conduct trash removal and grounds upkeep.
  • Respond to urgent cleaning needs as they arise.
  • Utilize and maintain cleaning equipment effectively.
  • Handle laundry duties related to cleaning supplies.
  • Assist with floor maintenance, including stripping and waxing.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Support the cleaning of campus vehicles when applicable.
  • Coordinate with supervisors regarding supply needs and maintenance issues.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills; prior experience in cleaning or janitorial roles is preferred.
  • Strong commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities with a proactive approach.
  • Attention to detail and self-motivation.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-focused attitude.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry weights between 20-50 lbs.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Basic computer skills are a plus.
