Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Direct Support Professional IV Campus/Shift Coordinator to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong leadership and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with a diverse team of professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and oversee all shift activities within residential services, ensuring adequate staff coverage and effective delivery of care, treatment, and support activities.
  • Monitor the homes, infirmary, activity centers, and grounds, addressing unusual occurrences and emergencies immediately upon discovery or notification.
  • Provide coaching and in-service training to staff as needed, and document staff performance issues and concerns.
  • Serve as the contact person for abuse/neglect allegations and respond immediately to ensure the safety and health of individuals.
  • Conduct special audits/reviews and monitoring as scheduled or requested by facility administration to ensure ongoing service delivery and the health and safety of individuals served.
  • Assist with personnel issues, such as resolving staff conflicts and providing worker compensation materials.
  • Ensure the effective delivery of care, treatment, and support activities by observing and monitoring the activities and work behaviors of direct support staff during campus rounds.
  • Provide on-the-job coaching and in-services as needed to improve work performance.
  • Document staff performance issues and concerns, and communicate with other administrative and supervisory staff as needed.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of individual care techniques and of treatment, therapy, and developmental programs.
  • Knowledge of basic scheduling techniques, considerations, and facility-coverage strategies.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to react quickly and calmly in an emergency.
  • Ability to train staff in job-related subject areas.
  • Ability to master basic techniques of individual care and training.
  • Ability to be flexible in handling work assignments.
  • Ability to provide individual care, to administer first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, to conduct Safety Utilization of Restraint (SUR).
Working Conditions

This position may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy. May serve in an on-call status on a rotating schedule as required to meet operational needs of the facility.

This position may be required to drive a state-owned vehicle.
