Position Title: Intake Assessment Specialist I

POSITION SUMMARY

The Intake Assessment Specialist I plays a crucial role in the registration and data management processes for patients. This position is dedicated to ensuring accurate data entry and verification, regardless of the financial circumstances of the patients. Responsibilities include insurance verification, billing, and follow-up on collections with insurance providers and private pay sources, adhering to established agreements.

SALARY RANGE

$28 per hour, depending on experience.

WORK HOURS

8 hours per day, 5 days per week.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Conduct intake and screening for all admission inquiries, facilitating the admission of new patients into the appropriate programs.
  2. Assist in the completion of intake documentation and patient records.
  3. Ensure accuracy and completeness in the admission or discharge entries into the system.
  4. Process billing for all services rendered at the time of patient admission.
  5. Provide guidance to patients regarding payment obligations and collection processes.
  6. Input necessary data elements to comply with patient accounting system requirements.
  7. Maintain reports and data for service units; communicate relevant statistics to the Marketing Committee.
  8. Manage appointment schedules and submit admission and discharge reports.
  9. Collaborate with external providers to facilitate referrals and admissions.
  10. Maintain and distribute caseload lists, and keep a log of case conferences.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of the role.
  12. Complete other tasks as directed by the Director or Administrator.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Current enrollment in or completion of an academic Addiction Studies Program (Level I or II).
  • Registration or Certification with a DADP-approved State certification agency is required upon hire.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is essential.
  • Understanding of UB92 and HCFA 1500 billing formats is necessary.
  • Minimum of one year of prior admission experience, preferably in a behavioral healthcare setting.
  • Must have one year of continuous sobriety if in recovery.
