Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional land surveyor to join our team at the State of Montana. As a professional land surveyor, you will be responsible for planning and performing professional survey work, including organizing and overseeing survey projects, analyzing evidence to determine boundary locations, and staking/monumenting property boundaries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and oversee straightforward survey projects, ensuring timely completion and quality results.
  • Analyze evidence to determine boundary locations, using professional level survey calculations and geospatial analysis techniques.
  • Stake/monument property boundaries, ensuring accurate and precise measurements.
  • Coordinate survey reviews to ensure quality, consistency, efficiency, and compliance with established standards and policies.
  • Provide training to field survey crews and coordinate the operation and maintenance of survey equipment within the unit.

Requirements:

  • Professional land surveying experience, preferably in a government or public sector setting.
  • Strong knowledge of surveying principles, techniques, and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders and colleagues.
