We are looking for a Safety Systems Engineer to provide support for critical defense initiatives.

The primary responsibility involves delivering expert engineering assistance in Environment, Safety, and Occupational Health (PESOH) and Software System Safety to enhance project safety measures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Lead Point of Contact (POC) for System Safety initiatives.
  • Facilitate safety working groups to promote best practices.
  • Create and evaluate System Safety Program documentation.
  • Identify and assess potential hazards.
  • Establish Risk Assessment Codes to manage safety risks.
  • Offer recommendations for mitigation strategies, including design improvements, safety devices, and training procedures.
  • Coordinate and suggest testing and analyses to substantiate safety measures.
  • Prepare comprehensive Safety Data Packages to support safety initiatives.
  • Present findings at essential safety forums.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for safety-related program reviews and integrated product teams.
  • Manage risk acceptance processes with relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain thorough documentation and tracking of safety actions and hazard logs.
  • Engage in active communication with safety points of contact and related programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • A BA/BS degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Systems Safety.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-882E standards.
  • Knowledge of the Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board (WSESRB) processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Over 10 years of Systems Safety experience.
  • Experience within the acquisition framework, particularly in S&T/RDT&E for new equipment development.
  • Background in fielding experimental equipment.
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as Microsoft Project and Visio.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must possess an active DoD Secret clearance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to remain stationary for 50% of the time.
