Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Representative Associate to join our team at UnitedHealth Group. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring a seamless registration process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet and welcome patients in person, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Collect demographic and insurance information, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Check in and interview patients to complete necessary paperwork, ensuring a smooth registration process.
  • Direct patients to their appointments or procedures, providing clear instructions and support.
  • May assist in scheduling add-on appointments, ensuring timely and efficient service.
  • Document any issues or resolutions in the electronic medical record, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Resolve claim issues or registration errors on patient accounts, providing prompt and effective solutions.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits information for payers, interpreting results and addressing complex billing situations.
  • Obtain cost information and explain it to patients as needed, providing clear and concise information.
  • Collect co-pay or deductibles, responding to questions regarding financial assistance programs available.
  • Screen and approve patients for financial assistance programs, assisting with the application process.
  • Provide technical or functional direction for employees, ensuring effective teamwork and collaboration.
  • Assist patients in completing request for information forms and submit them to the appropriate department.
  • Obtain signatures from patients as needed, maintaining accurate and secure records.
  • May gather medical record information from all departments for collection, ensuring comprehensive and accurate records.
  • Provide customer service for inbound and outbound telephone calls, responding to patient inquiries and concerns.
  • May mentor other staff as needed, providing guidance and support.
Requirements
  • 6+ months of customer service experience in an office/hospital setting.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to work 4 weekdays per week and every other Saturday and Sunday, in 8 hour shifts starting between 5:00am – 8:00am.
  • Ability to work standard daytime hours, Mon-Fri for the first 3 weeks after hire in alignment with the training schedule.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Revenue Cycle experience.
  • General office experience.
  • Epic experience.
Physical Demands

Consistent walking, standing, bending, turning, etc. Lifting weight Up to 10 lbs. occasionally, up to 2-5 lbs. frequently.
