Job Summary

Key Position Details
  • 0.6 FTE (48 hours per two week pay period)
  • 8-hour, permanent night shifts with variable shift times (7pm-3:30am or 10pm-6:30am)
  • Every other weekend (7pm-3:30am)
Job Description

As a Patient Access Representative, you will be responsible for greeting and welcoming patients in person. You will provide a standard registration process by collecting demographic and financial data and entering information into electronic medical records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome patients in person
  • Collect demographic and insurance information
  • Check in or interview patients to complete appropriate paperwork
  • Direct patients to their appointment or procedure
  • Document any issues and resolutions in electronic medical records
  • May assist in scheduling add-on appointments
  • Verify eligibility and benefits information for payers and interpret results
  • Obtain cost information and explain information to patients if necessary
  • Obtain signatures from patients as needed
  • Collect co-pay or deductibles
  • Determine patient need for financial counseling and offer to explain resources available
  • May order supplies in designated work area
  • Use resources, tools and procedures to complete accounts in assigned work queues
  • Assist patients in completion of request for information forms and submit to appropriate department
  • May gather medical record information from all departments for collection and distribution
  • May mentor new staff
Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description
  • 2 to 5 years of revenue cycle experience
  • 2 to 5 years of customer service experience
  • 0 to 2 years of general office experience
  • 0 to 2 years of experience using computers including an electronic medical record, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
