Job Overview

USmax Corporation is looking for a skilled Technical Security Systems Specialist to provide essential support for USAID's Office of Security (SEC).

The Technical Security Systems Specialist will be responsible for delivering technical security assistance, which includes the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various Technical Security Systems (TSS) across USAID facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, test, and troubleshoot a range of TSS/ESS equipment, including:
  1. Closed Circuit Television Systems (CCTV) – both analog and IP
  2. Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS)
  3. Access Control Systems (ACS)
  4. Duress alarms
  5. Emergency and Mass Notification Systems (ENS/IDNS)
  6. Forced Entry/Ballistic Resistant (FE/BR) doors and windows
  7. Walk-through metal detectors, X-ray machines, and explosive trace detection systems
  8. Security Management System enterprise (SMSe)
  9. Active/passive anti-ram barrier and bollard systems
  10. Two-way radio communication equipment, including hand-held radios, mobile radios, base stations, and repeaters
  11. Low Voltage Electrical Systems
Interpret schematics, blueprints, and operational manuals.Assist SEC in the analysis, planning, design, development, and execution of technical, electronic, physical, and communication security projects.Provide on-site security engineering support, including oversight and inspection of contractor installations.Support SEC Project Coordination Officers (PCO) in preparing design documents, including Scope of Works (SOW), AutoCAD or Visio concept design drawings, project timelines, Security Engineering Reports (SER), Technical Security Reviews (TSR), and Technical Security Installation Reports (TSIR).Help PCOs develop a bill of materials (BOM) for communication and security equipment for upgrades or new installations.Assist PCOs in creating the Scope of Work (SOW) for local USAID Missions, ensuring proper oversight and monitoring of contractor work.Conduct pre-project and post-project on-site surveys and inspections.Install communication equipment on approved armored vehicle platforms.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and design of Technical, Electronic, and Physical security systems (TSS/ESS/PSS).
  • Experience with high and low voltage electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of security and life safety systems.
  • Understanding of safety and security principles.
  • Technical/Electronic systems experience, including repair, installation, and maintenance.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and operational manuals.
  • Experience installing, testing, and troubleshooting various DS compliant TSS/ESS/PSS equipment.
  • Strong communication skills to articulate ideas and perspectives effectively with internal and external government agencies.
  • Experience in drafting correspondence that communicates clearly to diverse audiences, including senior management.
  • Ability to deliver briefs and guidance on technical security system issues to varied audiences.
  • Strong time management skills to meet deadlines and efficiently plan and prioritize tasks related to technical security engineering.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, kneel, and bend for extended periods and climb ladders with dexterity.
  • Capability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds to waist height and 30 pounds overhead.
  • 20/20 vision with corrective lenses if necessary.
  • Acceptable color vision and depth perception.
  • Ability to travel and operate in potentially hazardous overseas environments.
  • Ability to hear normal conversations and alarms with corrective devices if necessary.

Experience:

  • A minimum of four years of general Technical/Electronic security and communication equipment experience, with at least two years of relevant technical experience.

Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD.

Education:

  • High School Diploma.

Security Clearance:

  • Active Secret clearance is required.

Work Schedule:

  • This position requires a minimum of three days per week on-site at the client location. Telework is generally authorized for two days per week.

Travel Requirements:

  • International travel may be required on a short-term basis.
