Job Description:

As an IT Systems Support Specialist, you will help ensure today is secure and tomorrow is smarter.

Your responsibilities will include providing installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting support for information systems applications and related peripheral hardware.

Support for Unix and Windows hardware will involve troubleshooting and diagnosing internal inquiries and work requests related to the maintenance of personal computers and associated systems.

Install and upgrade computers, printers, scanners, phones, and other essential hardware.
Deliver troubleshooting support, diagnose, isolate, and resolve system service failures to meet program resolution timelines (Critical, Essential, and Support)
Reseat cards, reboot hardware, replace hardware components, and replace cabling.
Re-image or reload software to approved baseline standards, run diagnostics to repair storage disks or corrupted files.
Customer service oriented with the ability to explain technical terms in a user-friendly manner, and work with clients to properly diagnose system issues and recommend solutions.

Provide situational awareness to operations:
Technicians on incident troubleshooting actions, coordination, and resolution status.

Communicate incident ticket:
Change request updates with managers, team members, service providers, customers, and stakeholders.

Update incident:
Change documentation, configuration management database (CMDB), knowledge articles, training resources, and other documentation.
Conduct back-end device configuration, manage security settings, and protocols.
Coordinate deployment of deliverables and products.
Participate in the administration of multiple critical network systems.
Must be able to track project studies, plans, action items, etc.
Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
Participate in special projects as required.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Education: AA/AS, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
  • Required


Experience:

3+ years of related experience
Understanding of desktop computers, thin clients, servers, VoIP phones, video conferencing, cabling standards, installation, systems administration, testing equipment, and ITIL best practices.
Must possess appropriate and current DoD Information Assurance (IA)

Certification to be considered for employment:
CompTIA Security+ CE is the minimum certification.
As part of your function on the program, you will be granted privileged user access. Privileged Users are subject to greater scrutiny as a direct result of the significant responsibilities placed upon them.

Please be aware that because of these critical duties, you will be subject to additional IT system monitoring and supervisory evaluation to ensure continuous adherence to Privileged User processes and procedures.

Privileged Users are subject to a zero-tolerance policy for security violations.

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $42.57. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary.

Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location, and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
