We are in search of a driven Security Risk Management Specialist to enhance our team. This role involves leading mission-critical Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance efforts in support of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Research Directorate.

Key Responsibilities:

The Research and Technology Protection (RTP) team is tasked with providing expert guidance on security classification and conducting assessments of classified and controlled unclassified information, particularly in relation to GEOINT campaigns and program tool development within the NGA Research Offices and Pods. RTP serves as a security risk management framework that identifies and protects both technical and programmatic information from inception through transition to mission partners. RTP conducts thorough analyses to ensure the safeguarding of information and technology, thereby protecting U.S. Government, National Security, and Intelligence Community interests from unauthorized disclosures. Additionally, RTP implements operational security measures and countermeasures to secure critical information generated by the NGA Research workforce.
  • Conduct system security analyses and develop program documentation and risk assessments in alignment with the RTP mission.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of threats facing NGA Research programs.
  • Identify potential vulnerabilities within programs that may be subject to exploitation.
  • Evaluate the repercussions of losing NGA R&D information.
  • Perform comprehensive security risk assessments for NGA's research initiatives.
  • Provide detailed evaluations of proposed risk mitigation strategies.
  • Assist in the review and establishment of security classification guidance for new concepts developed by the Offices and Pods.
  • Create tailored classification guidelines for innovative GEOINT tool development and specialized handling instructions for Intelligence materials and GEOINT programs.
  • Offer expert advice on the protection of classified information, classification management, special security, industrial security, security education and training, and security investigations.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and the Office of General Counsel to identify export-controlled/ITAR restricted technologies under development within NGA Research.
  • Deliver briefings and support briefings for the NGA Research workforce on evolving security policies and guidance.
  • Utilize Business Intelligence (BI) and social network analysis to identify threats, vulnerabilities, and opportunities for exploitation across various supply chains and networks.
  • Analyze the capacity and maturity of the technology and innovation ecosystem, including supplier bases, to develop and deliver critical enabling technologies.
Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in developing, staffing, and managing security programs for Research and Development.
  • Expertise in research and technology protection (RTP).
  • Experience with program protection planning (PPP).
  • Familiarity with various DoD directives related to information security and technology protection.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC).
  • Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC).
  • Security Program Integration Professional Certificate (SPIPC).
  • Special Program Security Certification (SPSC).
  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD).
Education Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree.
