NRDC is seeking a Legal Support Specialist to join our Litigation Team, with opportunities available in various offices.

Position Summary

This role is designed for a Legal Support Specialist to provide comprehensive administrative and litigation assistance throughout all phases of legal proceedings. Responsibilities include document and project management, legal research, coordination and preparation of legal documents, discovery review, and contributing to the overall litigation support processes.

Key Responsibilities

Litigation Support Duties (70%):

  • Prepare, proofread, and verify court filing documents
  • Manage service of court filings and discovery requests
  • Conduct research and summarize applicable court rules
  • Organize and maintain case files
  • Calculate court deadlines and ensure case file accuracy
  • Assist in preparations for hearings and depositions
  • Compile documentation for fee recovery
  • Create visual aids for research and court presentations
  • Monitor media outlets, websites, and relevant legal dockets
  • Engage in conference calls and team meetings

Administrative Support Duties (30%):

  • Process invoices and manage expense reports
  • Assist in the recruitment and training of new staff and interns
  • Schedule meetings and coordinate travel arrangements
  • Oversee legal document processing
  • Support office-specific administrative functions
  • Contribute to team-wide support initiatives
  • Perform additional administrative tasks as needed

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 1 year of prior litigation support experience
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in a legal or administrative support capacity
