Job Summary

Plymouth Housing is seeking a dedicated Lead Peer Support Specialist to join our onsite Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) team. This role is pivotal in supporting the well-being of our residents by working closely with PSH and Behavioral Health Integration (BHI) staff, as well as external partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and supervision for Peer Support Specialists.
  • Ensure quality and effectiveness of professional development tools and policies.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for Peer Support Specialist (PSS) questions and support.
  • Collaborate with site leadership to support staff in working at their full capacity.
  • Lead program improvements and development of program elements.
  • Support harm reduction and substance use disorder (SUD) program training for all staff.
  • Lead regular peer learning sessions to support quality service delivery and ongoing learning.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Integrate PSS team members into the BHI team and organization.
  • Provide information, recommendations, and feedback for innovation and quality improvement.
  • Create and support external partnerships focused on Peer career development and SUD services.
  • Ensure continuity of function and service in the event of a PSS absence.
  • Serve as back-up to the Behavioral Health Program Manager (BHPM) during their absence.
Resident Support
  • Engage residents in harm reduction and recovery-based activities and groups.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with community-based organizations, residents, and supportive housing and behavioral health teams.
  • Provide one-on-one and group peer support to residents.
  • Support residents in accessing mental health services.
  • Use a trauma-informed approach and harm reduction perspective in all interactions.
  • Advocate for residents and community members with lived experience.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices and provide expertise in supporting residents with substance use disorders and mental health conditions.
Data and Documentation
  • Collect and manage data to support services and research partnerships.
  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness in data recording.
  • Review collected data and complete follow-up procedures as directed.
  • Maintain data security and confidentiality.
  • Provide regular updates regarding data to research partners.
  • Support innovation and quality improvement through pilot development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Document supervision goals and ongoing processes with direct report staff.
  • Contribute to tool development and policies to drive innovation and quality improvement.
  • Ensure KPIs drive effectiveness and quality improvement.
Collaboration and Community Building
  • Establish effective communication channels internally and externally.
  • Attend and participate in required trainings, meetings, and supervision sessions.
  • Support community events and align with building teams on resident strategies.
  • Lead onboarding for Peer positions in the department.
  • Support the development and quality improvement of cross-departmental workflows.
  • Create policies, processes, and tools that support staff in performing their roles.
  • Provide expertise on harm reduction and trauma-informed care with a focus on centering communities.
Qualifications

High school graduation or equivalent AND three years of experience in the program specialty or equivalent education/experience, including lived experience.

Peer Certification (waived for those with SUDP credential and/or clinical licensure).

SUDP or other clinical licensure, either associate or independent, is highly preferred.

3+ years of experience in social services/supportive housing, community advocacy programs, mental/behavioral health services, or related field; relevant education may be substituted, including lived experience.

Administrative and program experience focused on homelessness, substance use disorders, harm reduction, Social Drivers of Health, and/or chronic mental health conditions.

2+ years of clinical work, including SUD services (practicum experience may be substituted).
