Reports to: Principal

Supervises: Counseling Department, College Counseling, Attendance Coordinator, Dean of Students, Testing Coordinator, Administrative Assistant for Student Services/Registrar, Learning Specialist, Learning Center Paraprofessional, and Co-Curricular Moderators (Performing Arts, Speech & Debate, and Robotics)

Salary Range: $140,000-$170,000

Position Overview

The Assistant Principal for Student Support Services is responsible for fostering students' social and emotional growth and educational achievement through supportive systems and mission-driven co-curricular activities aimed at ensuring every student reaches their personal, social, and academic goals. This role emphasizes student health and wellness by creating innovative support frameworks, delivering high-quality programming tailored to the diverse needs and interests of students, and collaborating closely with instructional staff to promote academic success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic vision and leadership that enhances the school's academic, co-curricular, and social-emotional initiatives.
  • Collect and disseminate relevant data to evaluate program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Cultivate a collaborative culture that aligns with the school's mission.
  • Participate as a member of the Education Leadership Team (EdLT) to contribute to school-wide planning and execution of initiatives that support students' socio-emotional development and learning.
  • Collaborate with the EdLT to design and implement programs that align with the school's vision and strategic objectives.
  • Lead the Intervention team to assess student performance and engagement data, developing strategies to support all students' success.
  • Create and sustain support systems across the campus that cater to the unique needs of students.
  • Work closely with the Dean of Students, Dean of Student Wellbeing and Safety, Student Services Team, and Advisory Task Force to develop programs that enhance student health and wellness.
  • Implement policies that promote the continuous growth and development of student support services.
  • Oversee the advisory program as established by the Advisory Task Force and Student Leadership and Engagement Director.
  • Collaborate with the Dean of Students and Dean of Student Wellbeing and Safety to formulate student safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of professional development tailored to student needs.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and mentor all direct reports.
  • Manage the updates of the Parent/Student Handbook and ensure its annual revisions.
  • Coordinate the master calendar in consultation with school administration.
  • Assign and oversee co-curricular responsibilities in partnership with the Leadership Team.
  • Attend school-wide events as a member of the Leadership Team as required.
  • Oversee all aspects of Graduation.
  • Supervise and support the Performing Arts, Speech & Debate, and Robotics Program Directors, ensuring alignment with the school's vision and strategic plan.
  • Manage budgets related to Graduation, Testing, and Student Services.
  • Supervise the Testing Coordinator and assist with standardized testing on campus.
  • Collaborate with the Internship Director on Career Day every other year.
  • Supervise the school Registrar and Administrative Assistant for Student Services.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree in Educational Administration or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of educational experience with demonstrated leadership capabilities is required.
  • Experience in supervising programs and personnel is essential.
