Part-Time Educator for Visually Impaired Students

Position Overview: We are seeking a part-time educator to provide specialized services to students with visual impairments. This role is crucial in fostering an inclusive learning environment for visually impaired students in various educational settings.

Compensation: $45.00 to $55.00 per hour

- Assess students using appropriate evaluation methods to identify their visual functioning levels and educational needs.
- Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) with measurable goals based on assessments and knowledge of child development.
- Create a supportive and engaging learning environment.
- Provide direct instruction in specialized skills, including braille literacy, orientation and mobility, and other essential skills.
- Facilitate the integration of students into mainstream educational settings when appropriate.
- Teach students to articulate their disabilities effectively.
- Collaborate with regular classroom teachers to enhance curriculum activities aligned with student objectives.
- Monitor student progress and adapt teaching strategies as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare daily lesson plans.
- Participate in meetings and comply with educational regulations and policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to company policies.
- Deliver accurate and timely work products.
- Exhibit a positive attitude and teamwork.
- Engage in continuous professional development.
- Provide excellent customer service and communication.
- Demonstrate punctuality and reliability.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- California Teaching Credential for visually impaired programs.
- Expertise in techniques for supporting visually impaired students, including braille and assistive technology.
- Background in orientation and mobility.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to communicate effectively.
- First Aid and CPR certification within six months of hire.
- Experience working with children with visual impairments.
- Experience in general education settings.
- Ability to communicate in sign language or bilingual skills.
- May involve exposure to various environmental factors.
- Requires physical stamina and mobility to perform duties effectively.
