THE BUREAU

The Community Partnership Unit is focused on fostering connections between law enforcement and the diverse communities throughout Staten Island by creating, communicating, and advocating for initiatives that safeguard public safety and mitigate crime.



THE ROLE

The Richmond County District Attorney's Office is seeking a Community Liaison to join the Community Partnership Unit (CPU).

Under the direct oversight of the Director of the Community Partnership Unit, the key responsibilities of this role encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Designing and delivering presentations and initiatives that highlight and raise awareness on critical issues such as the drug crisis, gun violence, domestic abuse, identity theft, animal cruelty, mental health challenges, homelessness, and other urgent public safety concerns.
  • Engaging regularly with the NYPD, governmental bodies, elected representatives, and other stakeholders to cultivate effective communication, strengthen relationships, and promote a favorable public image.
  • Actively participating and representing the agency at community gatherings and events relevant to the scope of the Community Partnership Unit and RCDA initiatives (including evenings and weekends).
  • Collecting and synthesizing feedback from the community to inform policy and program development and execution.
  • Leveraging internet resources, technology, social media, and publications to investigate issues impacting Staten Island.
  • Interpreting data and complex information to create clear, concise, and accurate reports, correspondence, records, and other written materials.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and two years of experience in community organizing or community relations on Staten Island.
  • Outstanding organizational, writing, and communication abilities.
  • Experience in managing intergovernmental projects with the capacity to develop and nurture responsive relationships between local community officials and law enforcement agencies.
  • Availability to attend evening and weekend events as needed.
  • Exceptional time management skills with a keen attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
  • A strong work ethic, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of completing tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Bilingual abilities are preferred but not mandatory.
