Job Summary:

Institute for Community Living , Inc. seeks a skilled Mental Health Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary treatment team, you will work closely with individuals who have serious and persistent mental illness to develop and maintain viable living, working, and social situations in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist participating individuals in obtaining needed medical, social, psychosocial, educational, financial, vocational, and other services.
  • Attend training sessions to increase knowledge and skills, utilizing competencies acquired through experience and/or training.
  • Conduct chemical dependency program orientation sessions and participate in case conferences and staff meetings.
  • Act as a liaison between recipients and medical staff, coordinating activities with courts, probation officers, community services, and other post-treatment agencies.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate public education, prevention, and health promotion programs in collaboration with organizations, institutions, and communities.
  • Confer with family members or others close to recipients to keep them informed of treatment planning and progress.

Requirements:

A bachelor's degree is required for this role. Three years of experience in providing direct services to individuals with mental disabilities, including at least 1 year training/experience in integrated mental health and substance abuse assessment and treatment, motivational interviewing techniques, and stage-wise treatment.
