Position Title: Lecturer - Continuing and Professional Education
Overview:
The Office of Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) at the University of Colorado Denver offers a diverse range of courses, including alternative teacher licensure programs, certificates, endorsements, workshops, and leadership training designed to enhance your professional growth. The School of Education & Human Development will create and maintain a pool of Lecturers for potential appointments to temporary, part-time, non-tenure-track roles in Continuing and Professional Education (CPE). Typically, Lecturers are limited to teaching two courses per term. Appointments will be made on a semester-by-semester basis, with the possibility of renewal. This temporary Lecturer pool is expected to remain active for the foreseeable future, with applications being cleared periodically. Candidates are encouraged to reapply to new postings as they become available.
Compensation and Benefits:
The established salary range for this position is $4,900 for a fully enrolled 3-credit course. This range reflects the University’s good faith estimate of potential compensation at the time of posting.
This position does not qualify for group health, life insurance, or retirement benefits. As of the latest policy update, Lecturer positions will accrue sick leave at a rate of 0.034 hours for each hour worked, with a maximum accrual of 48 hours per fiscal year. Overtime compensation is not applicable for this role.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Significant teaching or professional experience in K-12 education, community, or business settings, particularly in urban and diverse environments.
- A minimum of an earned master’s degree in a relevant field (some courses may require a doctoral degree). Candidates must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Undergraduate Lecturer Minimum Qualifications:
- M.A. or M.S. in Education, Human Development, Family Relations, or a closely related discipline, or
- B.A. or B.S. in Education, Human Development, Family Relations, or a closely related discipline, combined with an M.A. or M.S. in any field and at least 18 graduate-level credit hours in Education or a related area.
- If the Master’s Degree is in an unrelated field, candidates must demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Graduate Lecturer Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD, EdD, or PsyD in Education, Counseling, Human Development, Family Relations, or a closely related field.
- If the terminal degree is in an unrelated field, candidates must provide evidence of relevant experience.
- If lacking a terminal degree, candidates must possess an M.A. or M.S. and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
Desired Qualifications:
- Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Education or a closely related field.
- Experience teaching at the graduate level.
- Familiarity with online or blended/hybrid teaching models.
