Position Title: Lecturer - Continuing and Professional Education
Overview:
The Office of Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) at the University of Colorado Denver offers a diverse range of educational opportunities, including courses, alternative teacher licensure programs, certificates, endorsements, workshops, and leadership training designed to enhance professional growth. This posting aims to broaden our pool of Lecturers who are available to instruct courses for CPE. Selected Lecturers will play a crucial role in the innovative educational initiatives of the School.
The School of Education & Human Development is committed to establishing and maintaining a pool of Lecturers for future temporary, part-time, non-tenure-track appointments in Continuing and Professional Education (CPE). Typically, Lecturers are assigned a maximum of two courses per term. Appointments will be made on a semester-by-semester basis, with the potential for renewal. This temporary Lecturer pool is expected to remain active for the foreseeable future, with all applications cleared periodically.
Teaching assignments may vary based on course schedules, student enrollment numbers, and budget considerations. Therefore, we cannot guarantee specific courses or teaching assignments for any given term.
Compensation and Benefits:
The established salary for this position is $4,900 for a fully enrolled 3-credit course. This salary range reflects the University’s good faith estimate of potential compensation at the time of posting.
This position does not qualify for group health, life insurance, or retirement benefits. Lecturers will accrue sick leave at a rate of 0.034 hours for each hour worked, with a maximum accrual of 48 hours per fiscal year.
Overtime compensation is not applicable to this position.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Significant teaching or relevant work experience in K-12 education, community, or business settings, particularly in urban and diverse environments.
- A minimum of an earned master’s degree in a relevant field (some courses may require a doctoral degree).
Undergraduate Lecturer Minimum Qualifications:
- M.A. or M.S. in Education, Human Development, Family Relations, or a closely related discipline, or
- B.A. or B.S. in Education, Human Development, Family Relations, or a closely related discipline, along with an M.A. or M.S. in any field and at least 18 graduate-level credit hours in Education or a related discipline.
Graduate Lecturer Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD, EdD, or PsyD in Education, Counseling, Human Development, Family Relations, or a closely related field.
- If the terminal degree is in an unrelated field, the candidate must demonstrate relevant experience.
Desired Qualifications:
- Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Education or a closely related field.
- Experience teaching at the graduate level and familiarity with online or blended/hybrid teaching models.
