The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking qualified individuals for the role of Instructor in Continuing and Professional Education (CPE). This position is designed to enhance our pool of educators available to deliver a variety of courses tailored to professional development.
About the Role:The Office of Continuing and Professional Education offers a diverse range of programs, including alternative teacher licensure, certificates, endorsements, workshops, and leadership training. Selected instructors will play a crucial role in our innovative educational initiatives.
This posting aims to establish a pool of instructors for temporary, part-time, non-tenure-track roles within CPE. Instructors typically teach up to two courses per term, with appointments renewed on a semester basis, contingent upon course availability and enrollment.
It is important to note that teaching assignments may vary based on course schedules, student enrollment numbers, and budget considerations. Therefore, we cannot guarantee specific teaching assignments.
Compensation and Benefits:The compensation for this position is set at $4,000 for a fully enrolled 3-credit course. This figure represents a reasonable estimate of potential earnings at the time of posting. Please be aware that this role does not include group health, life insurance, or retirement benefits.
As of January 1, 2021, instructors will accrue sick leave at a rate of 0.034 hours for each hour worked, with a maximum of 48 hours per fiscal year. Overtime compensation is not applicable for this position.

Qualifications:Minimum Requirements:
- Significant teaching or professional experience in K-12 education, community, or business environments, particularly in urban and diverse settings.
- A minimum of a master's degree in a relevant field (some courses may require a doctoral degree).
Undergraduate Instructor:
- M.A. or M.S. in Education, Human Development, Family Relations, or a closely related discipline, or
- B.A. or B.S. in Education, Human Development, Family Relations, or a closely related discipline, along with an M.A. or M.S. in any field and at least 18 graduate-level credits in Education or a related area.
If the master's degree is in an unrelated field, candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience documented in their CV.
Graduate Instructor:
- PhD, EdD, or PsyD in Education, Counseling, Human Development, Family Relations, or a closely related field.
- If the terminal degree is in an unrelated field, candidates must demonstrate relevant experience documented in their CV.
- If the candidate does not possess a terminal degree, they must have an M.A. or M.S. and at least 5 years of relevant experience documented in their CV.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Education or a closely related field.
- Experience teaching at the graduate level.
- Experience with online or blended/hybrid teaching models.
