Every member of our organization plays a crucial role in achieving these objectives. School-based staff will focus on 2 or 3 metrics that align with both their roles and the Big 5. These metrics may vary by position and are subject to adjustment for the academic year. As a Special Education Instructor, you will be accountable for contributing to these goals.

Role Purpose

Special Education Instructors at Rocky Mountain Prep are dedicated to identifying the unique needs of each scholar, fostering a productive learning environment, and collaborating to help each scholar reach their fullest potential. You will support both inclusive learning and targeted interventions as part of our special education programming, as specified in the IEP. As a case manager for special education scholars, you will understand, develop, and execute Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs), Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs), and Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) using a team-oriented and growth-focused approach. You will consistently gather data to inform instruction and document progress toward student goals across various needs. Collaboration with general education teachers and other special education professionals will be essential to support student academic success.

Key Responsibilities

In this position, you will:
  • Design and deliver daily interventions, providing tailored instruction based on individual scholar needs across multiple content areas.
  • Monitor data daily to inform instructional strategies for scholars
  • Analyze scholar data to provide feedback and establish IEP goals
  • Work collaboratively with general education teachers, school leaders, service providers, and families to ensure instructional methods meet the needs of each learner
  • Oversee the IEPs of scholars on your caseload, including FBAs, BIPs, and scheduling IEP meetings
  • Create and implement IEPs and evaluations that meet state quality standards for special education.
  • Regularly track and monitor progress on IEP goals
  • Support the implementation of accommodations and modifications across the educational setting.
  • Utilize effective time management and organizational skills to address a variety of student levels and needs.
  • Exhibit the ability to write comprehensive IEPs, including summaries of student performance, goals, and benchmarks based on assessments and needs.
  • Mentor 1-1 Teaching Assistants for scholars requiring individualized support
  • Lead a team of Teaching Assistants in providing one-on-one instructional and behavioral support to center-based scholars, including teaching social and adaptive skills, providing small group or individualized academic instruction, and supporting scholars in general education settings as needed.
Qualifications

Required:

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's and/or master's degree (any subject)
Must possess the following:
  • Current Colorado teaching license with a special education generalist and/or special education specialist endorsement(s)
  • Special Education instructors must be certified in Colorado. If your license is from another state, you will need to complete the transfer before beginning work.
  • Pass a background check
  • Demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States
Preferred:
  • Minimum two years of lead teaching experience. (We define lead teacher as the primary teacher in the classroom responsible for all academic content.)
  • Experience working with special needs populations
  • Familiarity with ABC data collection
  • Experience in case management
  • CPI/NCI Training
Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time position eligible for benefits, with a salary range of $62,000 to $96,800 based on experience and educational qualifications.
