Position Overview

Metis is seeking a Lead Operations Analyst, with a long-term potential to transition into a leadership position as the firm continues to grow. The responsibilities of a Lead Operations Analyst include collaborating with team members and service providers on various operational matters:

Client Account Management and Reporting

Overseeing the client account setup process, managing incoming and outgoing cash flows, ensuring proper documentation, verifying essential information, and confirming accurate systems entries and communication flow both internally and externally. This role involves liaising with client representatives, custodian banks, and operational service providers regarding account opening processes and ongoing updates, including international market registrations and related documentation. You will also interact with and advise clients, consultants, and prospective clients on processes and documentation requirements, ensuring timely production and distribution of client reports.

Commingled Fund Operations

Handling various operational and accounting aspects related to the firm’s commingled private funds, including reviewing and validating monthly client reporting, facilitating and overseeing annual audit and tax preparation processes, and providing operations- and administration-related inputs to product development. This includes building operating expense models and managing the account setup process with the fund custodian and fund administrator. Responsibilities also encompass addressing issues related to portfolio valuation and fair valuation of underlying securities, managing fund-related expenses, including calculating and monitoring expense accrual schedules, validating invoices and expense amounts, and processing payments, as well as managing fee calculations and payment processing.

Portfolio Accounting and Trade Settlement

Monitoring reconciliation reports and communication flows, identifying and addressing unresolved trade settlement issues and other portfolio accounting-related matters, prioritizing and escalating as necessary.

Regulatory Filings and Compliance Monitoring

Managing the firm’s required regulatory filings (such as ADV, Form PF, and Form D), gathering necessary information and data, and submitting filings to meet deadlines. This role also involves overseeing the firm’s ongoing compliance testing program, which includes reviewing relevant firm documents, processes, and reports, engaging with team members regarding activities related to the firm’s code of ethics, and maintaining regular communication with the firm’s compliance consultant. Additionally, monitoring employee personal trading activity, reviewing employee brokerage statements, and processing personal trade requests are essential responsibilities.

• Dependable, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple functional areas within a small firm
• Knowledge and comfort with equities, valuation/pricing, back-office operations, performance, compliance, and commingled funds operations and accounting
• Advanced Excel proficiency
• Familiarity with custodian and fund administration software platforms
• Working knowledge of GIPS is a plus

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess 5-10 years of investment operations experience, with specific experience in fund accounting being advantageous. Experience with the administration of 3(c)1 private funds, CITs, UCITS, and/or ETFs is also beneficial. A Bachelor’s degree is required, and an advanced degree in accounting is a plus.
