Job Description

The U.S. Department of State (DoS) relies on the expertise of skilled professionals to advance America's foreign policy through diplomacy, advocacy, and assistance. As a Training Specialist II at JCTM, you will play a critical role in supporting the DoS by implementing and training personnel on new technology, ensuring continuity and effectiveness across DoS locations globally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct training needs analysis to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop, deliver, and coordinate training courses and materials that address specific agency needs.
  • Maintain policy and standards for training throughout the development process.
  • Ensure training content is accurate and up-to-date based on outside feedback.
  • Monitor training changes and updates for dissemination and implementation.
  • Prepare training documentation and analyze existing training materials for improvement.
  • Coordinate training activities according to training program requirements.
  • Manage multiple training projects simultaneously, involving successfully organizing, planning, and executing small-scale training projects from vision through implementation.
  • Use independent decision-making to design and develop training materials, reference materials, presentation materials, and job aids.
  • Prepare student materials, including course manuals, workbooks, instructor notes, and handouts.
  • Ensure all training materials are clear, concise, instructionally sound, and directly support learning objectives; ensure materials are 508 compliant.
  • Monitor training tasks in support of the goals of the Contractor Program Manager and the government sponsor(s) using standard training standards and software.
  • Provide input to the Training Manager and the Contractor Program Manager on areas of continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • SECRET Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, or Information Technology OR IT certifications (MS-MCT, CompTIA CTT+, Agile, etc.)
  • 5 + years of experience in Information Technology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Instructional Systems Design
  • Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, effective decision-making
  • Possess thorough knowledge of appropriate hardware and software (e.g., PCs, Microsoft (MS) Windows, MS Office)
  • Experience using Microsoft 365 productivity tools
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 5% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with hotkeys and hotstrings
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
  • Experience with multimedia development tools (Adobe Captivate, Articulate, Camtasia, etc.)
  • Experience with webinar software (Webex, MS Teams, Zoom, etc.)
  • Experience with applications such as Servicenow and Salesforce
  • Prior technical training experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to deliver clear and effective communication both verbally and non-verbally to deliver updates; briefings; or interface with co-workers; leadership as well as customer.
  • Must be able to work in an office environment and be able to freely move within this space to utilize office equipment as well as interface with co-workers and customer.
  • Must be able to effectively use IT peripherals such as laptop, desktop, printer, fax machine, etc.
  • Must be able to deliver presentations as needed.
  • Must be able to review; decipher and understand program manuals; IT service requests; work orders; etc.
