Sports Coordinator Job Description

Job Summary:

The Sports Coordinator is a key member of the Eastern Sports Management team, responsible for developing, organizing, and delivering sports leagues, recreation programs, and activities for youth and adults. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for sports and recreation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development: Assist in the development, organization, and delivery of sports leagues, tournaments, recreation programs, and activities.
  • Team Management: Assist in the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, development, and supervision of sport team members.
  • Customer Service: Ensure a high level of customer service for all program participants.
  • Program Administration: Assist in planning, organizing, scheduling, and directing all games, facilities, officials, and scorekeepers for sports and activities.
  • Reporting and Budgeting: Provide data and reports for programs as needed and assist in producing and managing the program budget to ensure revenue and program service goals are achieved.

  • Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented and possess outstanding organizational skills.
  • Adaptability: Ability to remain calm and focused in a high-volume, fast-paced environment and ability to work in difficult and stressful environments.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Availability: Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays if necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying.
  • Typical Qualifications: Minimum of three (3) years of experience developing, implementing, scheduling, and evaluating varied sports recreation programs and minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • Skills: Strong organizational skills, knowledge of rules in sports recreation program activities, strong problem-solving and analytical skills, creative thinker with a history of applying innovation in programming, excellent interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to build community relationships.
  • Technical Skills: Basic skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
