Job Summary

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia's School of Medicine is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator to support clinical research efforts in various divisions. The successful candidate will work closely with Principal Investigators and experienced CRCs to learn the full scope of clinical research duties, including patient-facing activities, compliance management, and administrative responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the conduct of National Institute of Health (NIH) and industry-sponsored clinical trials, as well as investigator-initiated trials.
  • Work closely with the clinical team, including faculty, advanced practice providers, and staff, to ensure the successful execution of clinical research studies.
  • Develop a strong foundational level of knowledge in clinical research, including federal and local regulations that govern the conduct of clinical research.
  • Manage ongoing study conduct activities, such as coordinating study visits, maintaining concomitant medication records, and tracking and reporting adverse events.
  • Collect and enter study data in a timely fashion, maintain corresponding documentation, and collect, process, store, and ship study specimens as needed.
  • Prepare and submit basic regulatory documentation to the IRB, including personnel changes, annual protocol continuations, and minor protocol modifications.
  • Become familiar with various electronic platforms utilized in clinical research, such as IRB Pro, Protocol Builder, CRConnect, OnCore, and e-regulatory platforms.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree Required or equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or certifications.
  • No prior experience required, but some experience in a healthcare setting and/or knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
Physical Demands

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job may occasionally require traveling to attend meetings and programs.
