Compensation: $33.65 to $38.46 per hour.

Position Summary:
The Wastewater Maintenance Technician III is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and installing various mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems at treatment plants and pump stations. This role requires a high level of expertise and may involve leading the work of other technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic diagnostics to identify necessary repairs.
  • Estimate time and material costs for assigned tasks.
  • Dismantle equipment to access and repair defective components using hand and power tools.
  • Fabricate devices and assemblies as needed.
  • Perform welding, threading, and soldering tasks using appropriate equipment.
  • Inspect and calibrate flow meters, gauges, and related controls to diagnose operational issues.
  • Implement corrective actions as per established procedures and report malfunctions to supervisors.
  • Carry out facility maintenance tasks, including replacing damaged components and performing minor repairs.
  • Execute preventative maintenance and adjustments on various machinery and equipment.
  • Report operational issues requiring warranty or external assistance.
  • Calibrate portable meters for various measurements.
  • Engage in manual labor, including cleaning and waste disposal in compliance with safety standards.
  • Operate vehicles for operational purposes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Work Environment:
This position involves working primarily in operational settings, with some exposure to outdoor conditions. Employees may be required to travel for training and may participate in a rotational emergency on-call schedule.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Proficient in using various tools and equipment, including power and manual tools.
  • Familiarity with material handling equipment and precision measurement instruments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Candidates should possess a general understanding of building mechanics, the ability to read and comprehend technical documents, and basic mathematical skills. Proficiency in the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is essential, along with strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Certifications:
A valid driver's license is required; a commercial license and heavy equipment operator certification are preferred.

Physical Requirements:
This role requires standing, walking, and lifting, with the ability to carry up to 50 pounds. Candidates must be able to work in various positions and conditions, including heights and confined spaces.
