JOB SUMMARY:

The Heavy Equipment Technician is tasked with the upkeep and repair of various types of construction machinery, operating with a high degree of independence. This role encompasses a wide range of skilled responsibilities, including inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of heavy construction equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Conduct repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance on diverse construction machinery.
  • Execute welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks as required.
  • Diagnose and rectify issues with electrical generators.
  • Operate heavy machinery and power equipment.
  • Perform routine inspections to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Work safely and efficiently with minimal oversight.
  • Maintain a tidy work environment.
  • Keep precise and comprehensive work records.
  • Provide training to new technicians as needed.
  • Adhere to a rotational schedule of three weeks on and three weeks off.
  • Maintain a constant state of alertness and safety.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.
SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS:

This position does not entail supervisory responsibilities.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Capable of collaborating with fellow technicians to achieve company goals.
  • Skilled in managing challenging customer interactions and responding promptly to service requests.

  • Ability to develop alternative solutions when necessary.

  • Capable of operating a motor vehicle safely.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; vocational training in equipment mechanics or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience as a construction equipment technician is required; three years of experience is preferred.
  • Current Class B CDL license is mandatory.
  • Valid state driver's license and compliance with the Company's Driving Policy.
  • Current NSTC certification is required.
  • Two years of experience in a similar environment is preferred.
  • Ability to pass drug, driving, and background screenings.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The characteristics of the work environment are representative of those an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The noise level is typically high due to the operation of various machines, and much of the work will take place outdoors. The position requires the ability to work a rotating schedule.

Frequently: standing, walking, bending, reaching, talking, grasping, lifting/carrying weights of 10-75 lbs., and maintaining hand-eye coordination.

Continuously: close vision for detailed tasks.
