Position Objective:
The Wastewater Maintenance Technician III is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and installing mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems at treatment plants and pump stations. This role requires advanced skills to perform complex tasks and may involve supervising others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough inspections and perform troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems to identify necessary repairs.
- Estimate project timelines and material costs.
- Dismantle equipment to access and repair defective components using various tools.
- Fabricate devices and assemblies from metal as needed.
- Perform welding, threading, and soldering tasks using gas and electric equipment.
- Inspect and diagnose flow meters, gauges, and related controls, addressing operational issues as required.
- Implement corrective actions and report any malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Conduct facility maintenance, including replacing or installing damaged fixtures.
- Perform preventative maintenance and minor adjustments on various machinery.
- Report operational issues with equipment needing warranty or external service.
- Calibrate portable meters for various measurements.
- Engage in manual labor, including cleaning and waste disposal in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Operate vehicles for operational purposes.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned.
Work Environment:
Work primarily occurs in operational settings, with exposure to outdoor conditions. Occasional travel for training may be required, and participation in a rotational 24-hour emergency on-call system may be necessary.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
- A minimum of five years of relevant experience in a similar role.
- Proficient in using power, pneumatic, hydraulic, and manual tools.
- Familiarity with material handling equipment and precision measurement instruments.
Skills and Abilities:
Candidates should possess a general understanding of building mechanics, the ability to read and comprehend English instructions, and basic mathematical skills. Experience with mechanical systems and the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues are essential. Strong communication skills and proficiency in Computer Maintenance Management Systems are also required.
Certifications:
A valid driver's license is required; a commercial license and heavy equipment operator license are preferred.
Physical Requirements:
This role involves significant physical activity, including standing, walking, and lifting. Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work in various positions, including heights.
