Job Summary

University of the Pacific seeks a highly skilled Accounting Manager to oversee and direct business and accounting activities for the San Francisco campus. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, governmental regulations, University policies and guidelines, and best business practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and direct business and accounting activities for the San Francisco campus.
  • Collaborate with Business & Accounting leaders throughout the University to create process improvements.
  • Evaluate accounting trends and analyze data to create operational process improvements.
  • Manage and direct the establishment and implementation of effective policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Manage the complete year-end close process for the San Francisco campus.
  • Oversee management of capital assets within the San Francisco campus.
  • Oversee all daily accounting operations.
  • Manage all grants and contracts for the San Francisco campus.
  • Act as primary liaison between external auditors and the San Francisco campus.
  • Maintain and update documentation on policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Manage and oversee compliance with University Business policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical accounting and GAAP guidance.
  • Provide support, assistance, and answer questions related to accounting transactions for internal and external customers.
  • Review, analyze, and advise internal and external customers on process improvements and resource efficiencies.
  • Maintain effective, solid, and professional working relationships with a host of internal and external constituencies.
  • Ensure that the office of Business & Accounting is staffed with qualified financial personnel capable of meeting the objectives and responsibilities of the department.
  • Management responsibility for the following: Financial Reporting, Grants and Contracts, Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivable, Procurement, and Cash Management.

Requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP.
  • Advanced accounting reconciliation skills and financial reporting skills within GAAP.
  • Advanced analytical and research skills.
  • MS-Office applications with advanced Excel skills.
  • Management of full-scale accounting functions.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education accounting department desirable.
  • BANNER software experience desirable.

Working Conditions
  • Position is full-time, eight hours per day, five days a week.
  • Additional time may be required to meet business needs or deadlines.
  • Occasional travel to off-site meetings, training, or conferences.

Hiring Range
$99,155.52 per year.
