About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Care and Clinical Equipment Coordinator to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for ensuring the presence, functionality, and cleanliness of all necessary equipment in our Pediatric Emergency Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interact with the team to resolve equipment issues, including nurses, physicians, ANMs, and nursing managers.
  • Assure the presence, functionality, and cleanliness of all necessary equipment, including code carts, O2, and other emergency medical equipment.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly audits of assigned equipment and patient rooms.
  • Check inventory of assigned procedure carts and restock as needed.
  • Clean, organize, and maintain equipment in storage areas.
  • Serve as liaison with Bio Med, Sterile Processing, Materials Management, and Plant Operations departments.
  • Deliver and pick up equipment and supplies from Sterile Processing promptly.
  • Track equipment that is out for repair and follow up routinely.
  • Maintain whiteboard with equipment updates and review with the team in daily huddles.
  • Log asset tracking numbers and locate equipment as needed.
  • Document all data and findings in a consistent, comprehensive, and legible manner.
Requirements
  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • Completion of one of the following: Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or Patient Care Technician program, or Fundamentals of Nursing program from an accredited school of nursing, or HMH PCT Apprenticeship Program, or equivalent medical background experience.
  • At least one (1) year PCT experience in a hospital setting is required.
  • Pediatric Emergency Department or Emergency Department or Labor and Delivery experience required.
  • The ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs, a strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of our patients and their caregivers, an exceptional focus on teamwork, dedication to ongoing education, and the ability and passion to deliver the highest quality of care and service based on a strong sense of patient focus are all required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experienced or certified in phlebotomy and checking EKG, vital signs, and blood sugar.
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification is required.
