Job Summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Services Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support in a fast-paced medical office environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Registration and Scheduling: Secure and verify patient demographic and insurance information, and enter data into our computer system.
  • Telephone Triage: Perform initial telephone screening with referrals to appropriate medical professionals.
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Schedule patients following established protocols, including referrals, testing, surgical procedures, and specialist consults.
  • Financial Transactions: Collect point-of-service co-pays and payments on account, balance cash drawers, and ensure accuracy of bank deposits.
  • Chart Management: Set up and organize patient charts, obtain consent forms, and maintain file systems for confidential patient records.
  • Coding and Billing: Review visit data, determine appropriate ICD-9 codes, and verify CPT codes, entering data into our computer system.
  • Administrative Support: Perform receptionist and file clerk duties, as well as general office correspondence.
Requirements
  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Medical secretary, medical assistant program graduate, or medical office experience (minimum of one year) required.
  • Skills: Medical terminology, ICD-9 and CPT coding experience, computer/typing skills of at least 40 wpm, and legible handwriting.
  • Personal Qualities: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, physicians, and office staff.
