Role Summary:
The Kitchen Space Planner plays a vital role in enhancing customer satisfaction while driving sales growth. This position is directly accountable to the Showroom Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the design process from initial customer interaction to final order placement, ensuring:
    • Precise layouts, measurements, and pricing estimates
    • Design alternatives that align with customer expectations regarding budget, quality, and aesthetics
    • Proactive communication with clients to facilitate sales closure
    • Accurate and complete sales documentation
    • Clear communication and realistic timelines to manage customer expectations

Additional Duties:

  • Exceed customer expectations through a supportive and knowledgeable approach to foster repeat business.
  • Become proficient in the Home Surplus product offerings while understanding how they compare to major competitors.
  • Utilize company systems for precise communication and efficient processes.
  • Collect competitive insights and customer feedback, relaying this information to management to promote continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with team members across various functions to deliver exceptional customer service and enhance the workplace environment.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in design using 2020 or similar software for space planning and visualization.
  • Excellent listening abilities.
  • Personable and enjoys engaging with clients.
  • Proficient in asking relevant questions to create effective designs.
  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through.
  • Enthusiastic team contributor.
  • Reliable, punctual, and organized.
  • Professional demeanor with strong verbal and above-average written communication skills.
  • Possesses a balance of confidence and humility, addressing issues proactively.
  • Moderate creativity with a willingness to adhere to established sales processes.
  • Familiarity with kitchen fixtures and basic residential construction principles.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule based on departmental needs.
  • Willingness to work some weekends in a retail setting.
  • Fluent in English; bilingual Spanish is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
Work is conducted in a retail showroom environment during standard business hours. Physical demands include:

  • Extended periods at a computer workstation.
  • Prolonged standing.
  • In-person, phone, and video communication.
  • Occasional travel for measurements and assessments.
