Environmental Scientist Job Description

Apex Companies, LLC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Scientist to join our team. As an Environmental Scientist, you will be responsible for supporting clients in maintaining compliance with safety, stormwater, industrial waste, air quality, and hazardous materials handling and storage regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support clients in maintaining compliance with safety, stormwater, industrial waste, air quality, and hazardous materials handling and storage regulations.
  • Support projects with compliance oversight in the field.
  • Perform compliance inspections on Apex projects.
  • Meet and discuss compliance issues with agency inspectors and regulators.
  • Support compliance audits.
  • Write technical reports.
  • Maintain familiarity with regulations pertinent to Apex projects.
  • Apply for regulatory permits.
  • Track permits.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff related to regulatory aspects related to ongoing projects.
  • Oversee field activities to ensure compliance with regulatory permits.
  • Actively develop your own career growth.

Requirements:

  • BS in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or other related field.
  • 6+ years of experience with environmental compliance in the US.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • The ability to successfully multi-task.
  • Safety awareness.
  • Ability to maintain compliance records.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred.
  • Experience working in the field and directing field staff.
  • Experience with data management and report preparation.
  • Valid driver's license and personal vehicle are required.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
