Job Title: Environmental Field Scientist

Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Field Scientist to join our team. As an Environmental Field Scientist, you will be responsible for conducting environmental site assessments, monitoring groundwater and soil vapor, and implementing remediation programs. You will work closely with project managers and senior-level practitioners to scope, coordinate, and conduct environmental projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct environmental site assessments, including Phase I and II ESAs, groundwater and soil vapor monitoring, and soil and groundwater remediation programs.
  • Work with project managers and senior-level practitioners to develop and implement environmental project strategies.
  • Prepare technical reports, including Phase I ESAs, Initial Site Assessments, and Phase II ESAs, with a focus on ASTM compliance, accuracy, clarity, succinctness, and quality control.
  • Provide technical and general field support on various ESAs, including soil vapor, soil, indoor air, sediment, and groundwater sample collection for laboratory analysis.
  • Perform groundwater monitoring purging and sampling using standard volume purge and low flow methodologies.
  • Observe drilling and monitoring well installation and classify soil samples.
  • Evaluate analytical data relative to project-specific clean-up goals or applicable screening levels.
  • Conduct site inspections and reconnaissance in support of ESAs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience in environmental consulting.
  • Desire to pursue a professional license (e.g., Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist).
  • Experience with technical writing and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Currently have OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience installing soil vapor and groundwater monitoring wells.
  • Experience performing groundwater purging and sampling using various groundwater monitoring pumps and water quality indicator meters.
  • Experience accurately preparing soil boring logs, hydrographs, groundwater contour maps, field notes, sketches, and other documentation of actions undertaken during site investigation and remediation projects.
