Position Overview:

Arcadis is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer specializing in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Tolling Infrastructure. This position is essential for the electrical design, development, and execution of Highway Lighting and ITS technologies. The ideal candidate will possess a profound understanding of electrical engineering principles applicable to highway lighting and ITS systems. Responsibilities include leading engineering initiatives, overseeing technical teams, and ensuring that designs are efficient, dependable, and compliant with all applicable standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership: Direct electrical engineering design efforts for projects involving tolling systems, ITS, and traffic signal infrastructure. Formulate project plans and guarantee compliance with timelines and specifications. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and suppliers to fulfill project goals.
  • System Design and Implementation: Create, implement, and enhance electrical and electronic systems for ITS and tolling applications. Design and refine highway lighting solutions, utilizing photometric analysis to ensure optimal lighting design. Confirm that designs adhere to specifications, performance standards, and regulatory mandates. Responsible for electrical and roadway lighting design across various projects, including roadways, bridges, tunnels, transportation facilities, signage, and electrical infrastructure.
  • Technical Expertise: Utilize electrical engineering principles to devise solutions for ITS and tolling infrastructure. Familiarity with NEMA standards and GDOT electrical design criteria for tolling and ITS systems is essential.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical engineering with a concentration on ITS and Highway Lighting. Proven experience in a senior or leadership capacity is highly advantageous.
  • Experience coordinating with utility providers.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Possession of an Electrical Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Essential Skills and Competencies:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical systems for ITS technologies and tolling infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation and ProjectWise software.
  • Strong project management and organizational capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • Additional certifications related to ITS or traffic engineering are beneficial.
