Position Overview:

Arcadis is in search of a Senior Electrical Design Engineer specializing in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Highway Lighting. This role is crucial for the electrical design, development, and execution of advanced highway lighting, ITS technologies, and tolling systems. A comprehensive understanding of electrical engineering principles as they pertain to these areas is essential. The ideal candidate will spearhead engineering initiatives, oversee technical teams, and guarantee that designs are efficient, dependable, and compliant with all applicable standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership: Direct the electrical engineering design for projects involving tolling systems, ITS, and traffic signal infrastructure. Formulate project plans and ensure compliance with timelines and specifications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors to fulfill project goals.
  • System Design and Implementation: Engineer, execute, and enhance electrical and electronic systems for ITS, tolling systems, and traffic signals. Design and refine highway lighting systems, utilizing photometric analysis to optimize lighting configurations. Ensure all designs adhere to specifications, performance benchmarks, and regulatory standards. Provide electrical and roadway lighting design support for various projects, including roadways, bridges, tunnels, transportation facilities, roadway signage, and electrical infrastructure.
  • Technical Expertise: Employ electrical engineering principles to devise solutions for ITS and tolling infrastructure. Familiarity with NEMA standards and GDOT electrical design criteria for tolling and ITS systems is advantageous.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical engineering with a concentration on ITS and highway lighting. Proven experience in a senior or leadership capacity is highly preferred.
  • Experience in collaboration with utility companies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Possession of an Electrical Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Essential Skills and Competencies:

  • Extensive knowledge of electrical systems pertinent to ITS technologies and tolling infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation and ProjectWise software.
  • Strong project management and organizational capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Additional certifications related to ITS or traffic engineering are advantageous.
