Key Responsibilities
Your primary duties will encompass, but are not limited to:
- Overseeing all facets of intricate electrical and instrumentation engineering projects.
- Utilizing advanced engineering methodologies and analyses, drawing from extensive experience in the field.
- Adhering to departmental design and drafting standards.
- Understanding project scope, specifications, and design criteria upon assignment to project teams.
- Promptly identifying and communicating any changes in scope or design.
- Providing on-site support during project initiation.
- Offering technical mentorship to junior engineering and drafting staff.
- Coordinating tasks with team members and discipline leads.
- Leading small to mid-sized projects as a discipline lead.
- Generating estimate-level designs and material take-offs appropriate for project estimates.
- Creating detailed design calculations and sketches for construction materials.
- Producing electrical installation specifications and conceptual layouts.
- Developing installation details, motor control center layouts, and control panel designs.
- Ensuring designs are efficient in material use while meeting client expectations.
- Reviewing calculations made by peers for accuracy and compliance with standards.
- Assisting drafting teams in resolving layout and detailing challenges.
- Collaborating with design leaders from other disciplines to facilitate information flow.
- Advising senior engineers on identified design or scope modifications.
- Supporting the assembly of scopes, drawings, and specifications for procurement inquiries.
- Reviewing vendor and discipline drawings for electrical and instrumentation input.
- Developing construction specifications and reviewing fabrication drawings.
- Conducting fieldwork to gather data and provide construction support.
- Estimating and scheduling professional service hours while assessing project progress and quality.
- Providing leadership to ensure effective communication and execution within project scope, schedule, and budget.
Qualifications
Education:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution is required.
Certification:
Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred.
Experience:
This role necessitates a minimum of 6 years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficiency in the current version of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the ability to perform lighting level calculations. Skills in sizing wire, conduit, and overcurrent protection for lighting and power applications, as well as performing voltage drop calculations and routing conduit and cable trays are essential.
Familiarity with specifications and installation details for construction materials and equipment is crucial. You should also be able to develop equipment specifications for various electrical components and understand schedule constraints for producing electrical deliverables.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
